Meet Becky Tew

Becky Tew is a dedicated Family Practitioner with a rich background in Social Work and specialist training in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR). With years of experience supporting children and families, particularly within Southampton’s diverse community, Becky’s expertise lies in helping families manage the challenges posed by neurodiverse behaviors, especially in children with autism.

Her journey into the world of family support is deeply personal. Raised in a foster family from the age of two, Becky has experienced firsthand the complexities of life’s challenges. She also knows the pressures of teenage motherhood, having raised three children as a single parent. These personal experiences have shaped her compassionate and empathetic approach, giving her a unique insight into the struggles that many parents and children face.

A Passion for Helping Families

Becky’s work focuses on offering practical and effective strategies to manage neurodiverse behaviors, using approaches like Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), a well-researched technique that has proven to be highly effective in helping families create a calmer, more controlled environment. Through her career, she has seen the transformative power of NVR and continues to advocate for its use as a powerful tool for change in family dynamics.

Her passion for supporting families was sparked by her professional experiences, but was also inspired by the stories of the families she has worked with. In particular, Becky recalls one transformative moment with a young boy named Billy, who struggled with a fear of visiting the dentist. With the help of a social story she wrote, Billy overcame his anxiety, showing just how powerful these tailored strategies can be in helping children face their fears. This success story led Becky to become a strong advocate for social stories and inspired her to share more of these tools with families through her books.

A Life of Inspiration and Dedication

Beyond her professional qualifications and work, Becky is inspired by her own loving family. Their support has been a constant source of strength, driving her to give back by supporting other families in similar situations.

Becky is committed to making a difference, and she encourages families to explore the Non-Violent Resistance approach, social stories, and other tools that can help create a harmonious, understanding, and supportive environment for neurodiverse children.

Whether you’re a parent looking for guidance, a professional seeking resources, or simply someone interested in learning more about neurodiverse behaviors, Becky’s approach offers practical, evidence-based strategies that can make a world of difference.
